Ann Compton is a curator and historian of twentieth century art. She researched and organised the retrospective exhibition of Jagger's work at the Imperial War Museum in 1985. Her publications include: Charles Sargeant Jagger: War and Peace Sculpture, Imperial War Museum, 1985; Edward Halliday: Art for Life 1925-39, University of Liverpool, 1997; Edward Carter Preston, 1885-1965, Sculptor, Painter, Medallist, University of Liverpool, 1999 and 'Infrastructure 1900-25', in Sculpture in Twentieth Century Britain, P. Curtis (General Ed.), Henry Moore Institute, Leeds, 2003.
